The countdown to summer is on, in other words, days that are too hot to be wearing a full face of makeup or bent over shaving your legs in a steamy shower. Many of us spend the season trying not to sweat our makeup off, and timing leg shaving days with plans that involve wearing short dresses, but what if you didn’t have to?
If even the very thought of having to go through that again makes you all hot and bothered, we’ve rounded up some of our favourite summer skin treatments that’ll beautify your skin without makeup and leave prickly legs behind. Summer body goals: out. Summer skin goals: in.
IMAGE Skincare Signature Face Lift - £149.00
For pre- and post-summer skincare goals, IMAGE Skincare will keep your skin looking stellar all season long. For skin that’s just coming out of hibernation, this facial treatment will restore its beauty with vitamin C and fruit enzymes to increase skin cell turnover for a brighter, glowy complexion.
Hyaluronic acid provides an intense hit of moisture to heal dry skin, as well as plump out fine lines and wrinkles. To reduce redness in warmer months, this facial treatment features an aloe vera base to soothe and calm the skin throughout summer.
How Soon Will I See the Results?
The skin will appear dramatically brighter, hydrated, and less flushed immediately after the IMAGE Skincare Signature Face Lift. But to achieve and maintain the full anti-ageing benefits, the skin needs to be regularly exposed to hyaluronic acid in your skincare routine as levels drop over time, so we recommend you book yourself in every 3-4 weeks, or once a month.
Skin Microbiome Facial - £120.00
What Is the Skin Microbiome?
New to the menu at Young LDN is the Skin Microbiome Facial treatment. Despite what you might have heard before, not all bacteria are actually bad for you, as long as you don’t let the bad guys take over.
When balanced with good and bad bacteria, the skin microbiome helps to protect the skin from viruses, harmful bacteria, and fungi. Our Skin Microbiome Facial works to keep it in check to maintain healthy skin throughout summer.
How Does a Skin Microbiome Facial Work?
It begins with a thorough cleansing and exfoliation featuring probiotics and propolis to enhance and grow good bacteria without encouraging bad bacteria growth responsible for acne and inflammation. A combination of blue and yellow LED light therapy is then used to suppress the overgrowth of harmful bacteria, soothe irritation, and promote healing.
How Do You Restore Your Skin Microbiome?
Alongside getting regular skin microbiome facials, there are a few ways in which you can help support the health of your skin microbiome at home.
1. Cut Down Your Skincare Routine
Stay under double digits with your skincare routine. Using excessive amounts of skincare products may put you in your ultimate state of relaxation, but it can seriously stress out your skin microbiome and cause an imbalance of bacteria.
2. Keep Your Skin Moisturised
This should be one of your skincare goals all year round, but especially for summer skin in dry, warm climates. Dry skin will favour bad bacteria and begin to kill off the kind we want, and we can’t say we blame them as when we have dry skin, we too want to jump ship. Keeping your skin’s moisture levels topped up will help to keep it balanced.
3. Get Friendly with pH Balancing Skincare
If your skin has a higher pH level, it’s more likely to host more harmful bacteria, although good bacteria can be destroyed at lower pH levels. PH friendly skincare can assist in finding the perfect balance between the two, and since so many things can send it out of whack, you’re going to need all the help you can get for summer skin.
Young LDN Signature Chemical Peel - £135.00
What Does a Chemical Peel Do?
During a chemical peel, an acidic solution is applied all over the face to remove damaged skin cells and promote skin cell renewal. Over time new, healthy skin cells work their way to the surface of the skin, meaning you can literally get a do-over for your summer skin.
Is a Chemical Peel Good for Your Skin?
Chemical peels are ideal for strengthening the skin’s barrier by replacing tired skin cells with brand new ones that’ll hold up better against environmental aggressors, making them hella good for your skin and your regular skincare routine.
How Long Do Chemical Peels Last?
The facial treatment itself lasts 45 minutes, but you’ll notice changes within a few days to a week, depending on the strength of the chemical peel recommended for your skin concerns. The full results are usually seen within a few weeks, but all we’re hearing is that you could be well on your way to summer skin in only a few days!
Laser Hair Removal – Starting at £50.00
The only enjoyable thing about winter is being able to go longer without shaving. With at least two layers on at all times, shaving gets bumped from the top of our priority list to pretty near the bottom. But with summer right around the corner, dusting cobwebs off your shaver couldn’t be less appealing.
Laser hair removal is the ultimate life hack to silky smooth, hairless summer skin. It works by heating up the very root of hair follicles until they overheat and can’t regrow.
How many sessions of laser hair removal do you need?
To get every itty-bitty hair, a treatment course is highly recommended to remove all hairs over different growth cycles. Typically, 6-8 treatments for the body and 4-6 treatments for the face at 6-8 week intervals are needed to achieve the most desirable results – aka skincare goals.
How long does laser hair removal last?
Adding laser hair removal to your skincare routine for summer skin can deliver hair-free results for as long as 10 years with top-up treatments every few years, depending on your hair cycle.
After laser hair removal, when does hair fall out?
Post laser hair removal, the hair doesn’t fall out immediately. You’ll begin to shed them gradually over 1-3 weeks. To make the recovery process run as smoothly as possible, read up on our aftercare advice for skincare goals.
