The most wonderful time of year has come to an end 😭; time to get back into the swing of work and try to keep our vow of not drinking for a whole 5 weeks. The first week of Jan is often a time when us Brits regret our antics from the night before, reflect on what we have (or haven’t) achieved in the past year and for a lot of us, set our resolutions for 2020.

New Year’s resolutions often have mixed reviews, people tend to either love or really hate them. We kind of love them and our advice for keeping them is to start small. Instead of making grandiose plans for all the things you want to change in your life, start by making a few achievable commitments that you can keep all year long.

A lot of people focus on fitness and diet but for us, skin is always a good place to start. If you are in need of some inspiration, here are our skinspiration New Year's resolutions👌

1. Wear SPF Daily

Remembering to put on SPF every morning in the rush before work can be a challenge, but it is important. Harmful UV rays can penetrate the skin all year round, even when it is cloudy! Our favourite lightweight formulas are Heliocare 360˚ Gel Oil Free & IS Clinical Extreme Protect SPF

2. Wash your make up brushes

Washing your brushes regularly gets rid of any lingering bacteria and can prevent breakouts and skin problems. It is an easy resolution to break but a very important one you should try not to.

3. Remove your make up before bed

Sleeping in your make-up not only ages the skin faster but also clogs up your pores making you more prone to breakouts. We believe in a bespoke night-time routine for your skin type but a good place to start is with a quality cleanser. As a general cleanser we recommend Circadia Amandola Milk Cleanser, it's great for removing your makeup! If you think you might be tempted to sleep in your make up after a night out, leave it by your bed as just cleansing is better than sleeping in full make up.

4. Stop using hot water when washing your face

It may feel nicer on your skin in the moment, but it can deplete the oils from your skin and leave it drier in the long run. Lukewarm water is a lot gentler and will leave your skin looking dewy and fresh all of 2020.

5. Exfoliate regularly

Dead skin cell build-up on your skin’s surface is a one-way ticket to dull, dry skin. This is the last thing you want in winter time, so our advice is to exfoliate regularly. Bear in mind that the frequency with which you should exfoliate varies from person to person. Speak to one of our tribe for advice on how many times is best for your skin type.

Now you have nailed your resolutions for 2020, you can focus on other important things. Like not drinking for a whole month 🤭
