FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

GENERAL FAQ's

HOW DO I BOOK AN APPOINTMENT?

All appointments can be made by calling the studio on 0208 354 3970.

We also have an app and online booking system where you can make, cancel and check your appointments. This can be downloaded from your App Store!

When booking online a small deposit will be taken to complete the booking by taking your card details. This deposit will be deducted off your treatment cost.

While we do offer walk-in appointments, we cannot guarantee we will have availability. As a result, we recommend booking in advance.

If you are a new client then we recommend coming to the studio 10 minutes prior to your treatment so we can get you a drink and you can complete any necessary consent forms.

Unfortunately, if you are late for your appointment your treatment may need to be cut short and you will still be charged for the full treatment, we recommend arriving 5 minutes prior to your treatment to avoid disappointment.

We appreciate that sometimes you may need to cancel or reschedule your appointment. Please find our cancellation & rescheduling policy below.

  1. Appointments must be cancelled or rescheduled a minimum of 48 hours’ in advance of the scheduled appointment time.
  2. Cancellations and rescheduling MUST be done via the Young LDN app, phone call or email to the studio.
  3. Any appointment cancelled or rescheduled with less than 48 hours’ notice will result in the full treatment cost being charged to you.
  4. Any appointment missed without prior cancellation or rescheduling will result in a full fee for the missed appointment.
  5. If a client reschedules an appointment more than once,  we will require the full treatment cost upfront.
  6. If a client is more than 15 minutes late for an appointment, we will do our best to accommodate you however, we reserve the right to charge the full cost of the original  treatment booked.
  7. Any cancellations or rescheduling issues that arise due to extenuating circumstances may be discussed with the clinic on a case-by-case basis.

We thank you for your cooperation and continued support in allowing us to be able to do what we love.

For treatments booked, we require a deposit of 50% of the treatment value (unless stated otherwise*). This will be deducted from the overall treatment cost at check out in the studio.

Please note the deposit will be refunded if the appointment is rescheduled or cancelled in line with our cancellation policy.

*Exceptions to this rule are:

For clients with 3+ no-shows, we require a deposit of 100% of the treatment value before booking.

We ask all our clients to fill out a confidential consultation form before every appointment and ask for these to be filled out honestly as some treatments and products may not be suitable for certain medical problems.

It’s not because we’re being nosy!!

It is really important to let us know in confidence if you are pregnant, as there are certain treatments and products not suitable throughout pregnancy.

However, we can offer lots of treatments including our Bespoke To You and adapt treatments to suit you and your baby!

This is to make sure you don’t have a reaction to any of the products or machines used in the treatment. It is required by most insurers that every studio carries out a test patch for all new clients. Please note for certain treatments (such as laser hair removal) we may require you to have another patch test should your skin be exposed to the sun or fake tan.

The main treatments that require test patching are laser hair removal, IPL, laser tattoo removal, eyelash tinting, brow tinting and lvl lash lifts.

Please allow 24 hours after the patch test has been carried out before having one of these treatments.

Yes, you can still have facials however we ask you to wait 2 weeks after having Botox/ dermal fillers to avoid moving the product under the skin.

Nowadays there are an overwhelming amount of skincare treatments available, as such, it can be almost impossible to figure out which one is right for your skin. This is why we’ve created our ‘Signature Consult & Undecided Treatment‘ which includes a detailed consultation after which your therapist will recommend the best treatment for your skin.

How do I purchase a Young LDN gift card?

You can purchase a gift card online via our website or in person at our Notting Hill studio. Gift cards can be loaded with any value and beautifully packaged if bought in store.

Absolutely! You can either choose a specific treatment or simply select a monetary amount, giving the recipient the freedom to choose their experience.

Yes – gift cards can be used towards any of our treatments, services, or retail products, unless otherwise specified.

Specialised chemical peels faqs

What is a chemical peel?

A chemical peel is a treatment that uses a specially formulated solution to exfoliate the outer layer of skin, promoting skin regeneration, improving texture, and addressing concerns like pigmentation, acne, and ageing.

The number of treatments depends on your skin type and concerns. Generally, a series of 3 to 6 treatments spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart is recommended for optimal results, with maintenance treatments every few months.

During a chemical peel, you may feel a slight tingling or warmth as the solution is applied. Some peels may cause a mild stinging sensation, but it is generally well-tolerated. Stronger peels may cause a more intense sensation but are still manageable.

After a light peel, you can usually wear makeup the following day. For deeper peels, it’s best to avoid makeup for at least 3-5 days to allow the skin to fully heal.

After a chemical peel, it’s essential to follow your therapist’s aftercare instructions. This usually includes moisturising, avoiding direct sun exposure, and using gentle products. SPF is crucial to protect your new skin from UV damage.

Laser & IPL faqs

What is the difference between IPL and Laser treatments?

IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) uses broad-spectrum light to treat skin concerns like pigmentation, redness, and sun damage. Laser treatments, such as the Hollywood Carbon Spectra, use focused light energy to target specific skin issues with precision, promoting deep skin rejuvenation.

Most clients experience none to mild discomfort during the treatment, often described as a snapping sensation on the skin.

Results can typically be seen after 1-3 sessions, depending on your skin’s needs and the treatment area. For optimal results, a series of 3-6 treatments may be recommended, spaced a few weeks apart.

Both treatments have minimal downtime. You may experience mild redness, swelling, or peeling, which typically resolves within a few hours to a day. Most clients resume their normal activities immediately after treatment.

IPL is generally effective on lighter to medium skin tones, while Laser treatments can be more suitable for a wider range of skin types. Before your first session, you will need a patch test in which your therapist will assess your skin to ensure the best treatment option for your skin type and concerns.

HOW DOES EXILIS ULTRA 360 WORK?

Radiofrequency energy is used to produce two distinct results. Fat cells are broken up so they can be permanently eliminated through the body’s natural processes. The RF waves also stimulate collagen production so there is an overall skin tightening effect.

Clinical studies have shown a 42% average reduction in wrinkles and 35% reduction in skin laxity on average.

WHAT IS MICROBLADING AND HOW DOES IT WORK?

Microblading is a semi-permanent cosmetic treatment designed to create natural-looking, beautifully defined brows. It works by using a small, sharp blade—made from a stack of fine needles—to make precise, shallow incisions just below the skin’s surface.

Before each incision, the blade is dipped in a pigment selected to match your natural brow colour. As the blade cuts the skin, the pigment is deposited, creating hair-like strokes that mimic the appearance of real brow hairs. At Young LDN, we prioritise a natural look by crafting each stroke individually, ensuring maximum precision and control for soft, realistic results.

After the treatment, your skin heals by forming a microscopic capsule around the pigment, holding it securely in place. This results in long-lasting colour and shape, typically lasting for a year or more before gradually fading.

Before your microblading treatment, you’ll have a consultation and a patch test to ensure the procedure suits you. On the day of your appointment, your brows will be carefully mapped to determine the ideal shape. We recommend that you apply numbing cream is applied approximately 20 minutes before the treatment begins to minimise discomfort.

During the procedure, a disposable blade and pigment are used to create precise, hair-like strokes. While the process itself is relatively quick, you may experience some discomfort, especially towards the end of the treatment. Additional numbing cream can be applied to ease any sensitivity. DOES LASER HAIR REMOVAL HURT?

You’ll probably be surprised to hear that most patients have described it as less painful than waxing! The sensation is alike to a rubber band being pinged at the skin, and if you can handle multiple hairs being pulled out from your skin at once, you can definitely handle laser hair removal. 

You should begin to see a significant reduction in hair after your second session. However, it is worth noting that everybody is different and we do recommend a course of 6-8 treatments to achieve optimum results.

We can treat clients who are older that 16 but we do require parental consent if the client is younger than 18.

Typically clients will remain hair-free for months or even years. However, it will depend on your hair type, treatment area and the number of treatments undertaken.  To upkeep results, you may require maintenance laser treatments from time to time.

emsculpt neo FAQs

WHO CAN BENEFIT FROM EMSCULPT NEO?

Anyone can benefit from Emsculpt NEO. The technology within the Emsculpt NEO machine targets fat, making it the ideal treatment for new mums who are looking to reduce the size of their mummy tummy post-pregnancy. To achieve optimal results, this body sculpting treatment should be used as part of a healthy, active lifestyle.

While some clients will see immediate results, we recommend a course of 4 sessions over the course of a couple of weeks. You will typically see the best results around 6 weeks after your final session.

WHO CAN BENEFIT FROM EMTONE?

EMTONE is ideal for anyone looking for non-invasive cellulite reduction and overall improvement of skin appearance.

The most common perception of EmTone is that it is similar to a hot stone massage with intense mechanical vibrations. The treatment is performed in a relaxing lying-down position.

Clients have reported improvements after a single treatment session.

The results typically continue to improve over the next few months. With no downtime, you may resume normal activity immediately after the treatment. It takes around 12 weeks for the full effect, as new collagen is being produced.

HOW DOES CRYOLIPOLYSIS GET RID OF MY FAT?

Once treated, your body absorbs the fat cells and expels them naturally. Permanent results are only possible through the maintenance of a healthy lifestyle.

You may experience some deep tugging and pinching sensations within the target area initially. However, after around 5 minutes this will become a lot more comfortable. As each applicator involves a 60 minute treatment, we recommend combining your experience with a facial. This allows you to lay back and relax whilst the fat is frozen.

You may notice an immediate difference. However, the true results will be seen within 6-12 weeks.

HOW EFFECTIVE IS LASER TATTOO REMOVAL?

Laser tattoo removal is the most effective way to get rid of unwanted tattoos. It’s a safe, non-invasive treatment that will only affect the tattoo, leaving the surrounding skin out of harm’s way. 

Laser tattoo removal is a journey, and the journey can take between months and years. The laser tattoo removal process takes so long because tattoo ink is inserted into the deepest layers of skin, so the light energy is absorbed by the shallowest layers of link first. This means it needs to remove several layers of tattoo ink before reaching the last layer, and with a recommended schedule of 2-3 months apart to allow the skin to heal and the body to break down the tattoo ink, it can take a while.

The number of laser tattoo removal sessions needed is influenced by the colour, size, and age of the tattoo, so it can’t be said until you begin the tattoo removal process and are able to see how well it’s reacting with the laser. However, in general, 6-8 sessions of laser tattoo removal are needed. With smaller tattoos coming in closer to 5 sessions, and larger tattoos at 10 sessions.

Laser tattoo removal is highly unlikely to cause scars when performed by our Skin Experts, but if the tattoo caused scarring whilst it was being applied and/or healing (if you picked the scabs), these scars will remain.
